Rochester to Austin Sewer Upgrade

The sanitary sewer between Austin Avenue and Rochester Avenue is being upgraded over the next three years. The new sewer will replace the existing, old sewer with a larger sewer to serve the increasing population in the area.

The project will be completed in phases. The first phase of the project is scheduled to begin this summer and has been awarded to Complete Utility Contractors Ltd. Work will take place in the following area:

  • Rochester Avenue from Goyer Court to Schoolhouse Street;
  • Schoolhouse Street from Rochester Avenue to Dalton Court;
  • Dalton Court from Schoolhouse Street to the west end; and
  • the City’s Statutory Right of Way in the neighbourhood.

The scope of work includes the installation of a new sanitary sewer main, manholes and new service connections, followed by restoration work.

In order to complete the work safely, full road closures will be in place and vehicle traffic will be detoured. Road closures are in effect 24/7.

Anticipated Road Closure Schedule

  • July 4 to 17 - Rochester Avenue from Goyer Court to Schoolhouse Street
  • July 17 to 24 -  Schoolhouse Street from Rochester Avenue to Madore Avenue
