Coquitlam launched its Shared E-Micromobility Program in June 2023 to provide sustainable transportation options for residents and visitors. By offering access to a shared fleet of e-scooters and e-bikes operated by Lime, the initiative aims to advance the goals of the Environmental Sustainability Plan and the Transportation Plan by reducing emissions and providing more sustainable travel options.
Program Operations
The shared e-scooters and e-bikes are owned and operated by Lime. Lime is responsible for maintenance, servicing, managing parking compliance, responding to improper parking, and relocating and removing devices as required.
Service Area
You can rent and ride within Coquitlam City Centre and Port Moody. The City of Port Moody has also partnered with Lime which enables users in both municipalities to benefit from a larger, continuous service area. Download the Lime app to find and unlock the shared e-scooters and e-bikes.
All Lime devices are equipped with geofencing technology, which helps regulate the shared e-scooters and e-bikes when in specific zones. This technology assists users in finding and parking at designated parking stations, as well as physically slowing or shutting the device down in specific zones. The following zones are integrated into the Lime devices and visible within the app:
- No Parking Zones: The vehicle will operate, but you will not be able to end your ride
- Slow Zones: the vehicle will automatically slowdown to 15 km/h
- No Ride Zone: the vehicle will not operate and you cannot park
- Service Area Zone: The service is provided in this boundary

Where Can I Park?
The Shared E-Micromobility program has transitioned to a mandatory station parking model with the aim to increase parking compliance, ensure sidewalks and pathways remain accessible, create consistency across the system and align with Port Moody’s parking model.
What does this mean for users?
- You must park shared e-scooter and e-bikes in designated parking stations.
- Parking station locations can be found within the Lime app and are physically marked by one of the following:
- Painted/taped white box with a parking icon (can be located on-street or within the pedestrian realm)
- Black mat with a parking icon
- Lime branded lawn sign
- The system will not allow a trip to end unless the vehicle is parked at a designated station.
- If a device is left improperly parked, the app will continue to charge the user until the device times out and the ride automatically ends
- Lime has the ability to fine users who park outside of a station.
