Coquitlam invests in core transportation and utility infrastructure supporting safety, asset management and economic development. Capital construction projects support growth by improving the movement of people and goods, ensuring reliable sewer and water services and managing stormwater.

City Centre Area Projects
The following projects are long-term projects taking place on Pipeline Road that will bring infrastructure and safety improvements for residents and all road users. See the road project map to view specific areas where traffic will be affected on key routes.
- Pipeline Road Upgrade Project (David Avenue to Guildford) is a City capital project focused on improving road safety and active transportation options, increasing road capacity, and making Town Centre Park easier to access.
- Metro Vancouver’s Coquitlam Water Main Project is an ongoing project to construct a new water main in Coquitlam to meet the growing demand for drinking water in the region, with Coquitlam's Pipeline Road from Robson Drive to Guildford Way directly affected.
Help Inform Metro Vancouver’s plans for construction of two new water main projects
Metro Vancouver is constructing two new water mains in Coquitlam and is seeking your feedback to help improve plans and minimize public impacts during construction.
Metro Vancouver is currently engaging with residents from September 8 to October 7 about the upcoming projects: Coquitlam Water Main Project – Cape Horn Section and Dewdney Trunk Road Water Main.
Public Comment Period – Deadline: Tuesday, October 7

The Dewdney Trunk Road Water Main is approximately 1.6 kilometres long, 0.9 metres in diameter, and runs along Dewdney Trunk Road between Lougheed Highway and Pier Drive. It will replace an existing main built in 1950, which has reached the end of its service life.
The Cape Horn section of the Coquitlam Water Main is approximately four kilometres long, 2.2 metres in diameter, and runs from Westwood Street and Dewdney Trunk Road to Hickey Drive and Mariner Way.
August 2025 Update - Metro Vancouver and Coquitlam Water Main Construction
Road Work at Intersection of David Avenue and Pipeline Road
Metro Vancouver's contractor continues work at the David Avenue and Pipeline Road intersection. Work began the week of June 23 and will continue for the next four months, weather permitting.Work is currently taking place on the north side of the intersection at David Avenue and Pipeline Road, so traffic will be shifted into the south side of the intersection. To avoid delays, please plan for extra time or an alternate route.
