2027/28 Visual Arts Exhibition
The Visual Arts Exhibition program highlights the talents of local artists and promotes dialogue and cultural awareness by integrating more art into the community.
How to Apply
Local artists from the Metro Vancouver area, with preference given to artists based in Coquitlam, are invited to submit an application to have their two-dimensional visual artwork in the mediums of painting, drawings, photographs, collage or prints to be displayed for either a solo exhibition, group exhibition or for the Capture Photography Festival. Applicants must apply to only one opportunity; applications submitted for more than one exhibition will not be considered.
Artists submitting work for the first time are encouraged to apply to the group exhibition; while more experienced, artists may wish to apply for a solo exhibition. The Visual Arts Exhibition is open to emerging artists aged 16 and up, who are not represented by a professional gallery.
Application Intake Period: October 15, 2026 to November 12, 2026
Display Period and Exhibition Installations
Group Exhibitions:
Theme: Something Blue. Submitted artwork should feature the colour blue in either a subtle or prominent way.
September 13, 2027 - March 1, 2028 at Town Centre Park Community Centre
Capture Photography Festival:
Theme: Still Life, referring to the style of artwork that includes tablescapes, floral arrangements and everyday objects.
March 1, 2027 – September 10, 2027 at Town Centre Park Community Centre
This community group exhibition is part of the Capture Photography Festival.
Solo Exhibitions:
- March 1, 2027 – September 10, 2027 at City Hall
- September 13, 2027 to March 1, 2028 at City Hall
The solo exhibition does not have a set theme. Selected artists are asked to present a cohesive body of artwork that is thematically similar and highlights their artistic portfolio.
Applications can be completed online or submitted by mail before the deadline of November 12, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Please review our Artist Information Package (PDF) before applying. Accepted artists into the Visual Arts Exhibition will receive an honorarium.
