Community Services brings together key services around social planning, recreation, festivals and events, cultural services, facilities management, and space planning. Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering citywide recreation programs and the Emergency Support Services (ESS) program
- Leading initiatives in support of community arts, culture, and heritage
- Management and operations of City facilities, including space planning
- Delivering community grant programs and partnerships in the areas of recreation, culture, childcare, and health
Partnerships and Planning
Key responsibilities include:
- Management of community grant programs such as Spirit Grant
- Development of partnership agreements with community partners
- Planning and partnerships in the areas of childcare and health
- Tourism, corporate partners program and the delivery of festivals and events
Community Recreation and Culture
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing a range of community recreation services across the City including aquatics, arenas, fitness, and health and wellness programming targeting children, youth, adults and seniors
- Ensuring supportive and accessible City services through initiatives such as Recreation Inclusion, Financial Assistance, Snow Angels, and Community Outreach.
- Delivery of the Emergency Support Services (ESS) program
- Managing the City’s arts and heritage collections
- Delivering arts, culture and heritage special programs
- Liaison with Coquitlam’s cultural partners: the Coquitlam Public Library, Place des Arts, the Evergreen Cultural Centre and the Coquitlam Heritage Society
Facilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and maintaining the City’s facility assets to provide long-term, sustained community value
- Planning and executing corrective and preventative maintenance, and timely asset renewals to support continuous facility operations
- Ensuring City facilities are safe, clean and functional for the community to enjoy
- Provide technical expertise and operational support to departments and user groups related to building systems and facility functionality
- Citywide facility space planning
Business Services
Key responsibilities include:
- Departmental business planning, and financial governance
- Budget development, financial oversight, and reporting
- Centralized recreation accounting and revenue control
- Governance and management of Xplor registration and facility booking systems
- Oversight of point-of-sale operations and facility revenue processes
- Overseeing Park & Facility Rentals, including booking processes, and contracts
