The City of Coquitlam has a number of programs you can participate in that also help you get to know your neighbours.
Adopt-a-Street
Adopt a street on your own or with a group and keep it free from trash and debris. For more information visit the Adopt-a-Street Program page.
Adopt-a-Trail
Help keep local trails beautiful and litter-free, on your own or with a group. For more information, visit the Adopt-a-Trail Program page.
Block Watch
This Coquitlam Royal Canadian Mounted Police program encourages neighbours to keep an eye on each other’s homes and report suspicious activity to the police. For more information, visit the Coquitlam RCMP website.
Become a Snow Angel
Volunteer to help those who have difficulty keeping their sidewalks clear of snow and ice in the winter. For more information, visit the Snow Angels page.
Bad Seed
Invasive plants kill native plants and destroy Coquitlam’s beautiful natural habitat. We need your help to stop the introduction and spread of garden plants that can be harmful to people, animals and ecosystems.
From spring to fall, we have a number of "weed pull" events to help get rid of these plants from our parks and city spaces. For more information, visit the Invasive Species page.
Neighbourhood Small Grants
Do you have an idea for a low-cost project that will help make Coquitlam safer, stronger or more connected? Applications for Neighbourhood Small Grants (NSG) between $50 and $500 are accepted each spring. The grants support projects in Coquitlam that bring people together, tackle social isolation and build a stronger community. For more information, visit the Neighbourhood Small Grants page.
Host a Block Party
A block party is a gathering of neighbours who want to connect and celebrate their community. It’s a great way to get to know your neighbours, build new friendships, and enhance the safety and awareness of your neighbourhood. For more information, visit the Block Parties page.
City-Wide Garage Sale
Get together with your neighbour and participate in the City-Wide garage sale held each spring. The City will promote registered garage sale participants at no cost.
Join Us at Neighbourhood Nights
Join your neighbours at this series of free family events held in parks across Coquitlam once a week throughout the summer. For more information, visit the Neighbourhood Nights page.
Park Spark
Lend your expertise or your experience to help bring a local park alive. For more information, visit the Park Spark page.
